Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 15, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Nova ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use our mobile application and website.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly to us, including:
- Personal Information: When you sign up via Google Authentication, we receive your name and email address.
- Study Data: We store your study logs, subject categories, focus session history, and learning roadmap progress.
- Transaction and Subscription Information: We do not collect or store your payment details (e.g., credit card numbers or billing addresses). However, when you subscribe to a premium plan, we receive secure, anonymized transaction metadata (such as purchase timestamps, transaction IDs, plan duration, and subscription status) from the Google Play Store and our validation partner, RevenueCat, to unlock your premium access.
- Usage Data: We collect anonymous data about how you interact with the app to improve our features.
- Device Information: We may collect information about your mobile device (e.g., model, OS version) for troubleshooting and optimization.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used to provide and improve the Nova experience, specifically to:
- Sync your study progress across multiple devices.
- Create personalized learning roadmaps.
- Track and display your study streaks and achievements.
- Send important service updates or respond to support queries.
- Analyze app performance and fix bugs.
4. Data Storage, Security & Data Safety
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. All user data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Nova utilizes Google Firebase for secure cloud storage and authentication. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. This aligns with the Google Play and Apple App Store Data Safety requirements.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Data Retention: We retain your personal data, study logs, and account information for as long as your account is active and necessary to provide our services. We do not retain data longer than is reasonably necessary. If your account remains inactive for a period of 24 months, your account and all associated data will be automatically permanently deleted from our servers.
Your Rights & Data Deletion: You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal information at any time. You can request immediate account deletion directly through the app settings or by using our Support Form. Upon request, all your personal and study data will be permanently removed from our servers within 48 hours.
6. Children's Privacy & Parental Consent
We are committed to protecting the privacy of children. Nova requires users under the age of 18 to undergo a verifiable Parental Authorization flow. During this process, we collect the parent or guardian's email address to obtain verifiable consent before the student's account becomes active.
Parents and guardians have the right to review, refuse further collection, or delete their child's personal data at any time by contacting our support team or using the in-app deletion tools. We do not sell, rent, or market children's data to third parties.
7. Third-Party Services
Nova uses authorized, secure third-party service providers to power specific app functionalities, including Google Analytics and Firebase (for hosting and authentication), and RevenueCat (for validating app store subscriptions). These services process data in compliance with high industry security standards. We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to any unauthorized outside parties.
